I became a Lingodie towards the end of 2019, so I’ve been at Lingoda for quite some time now – which I would say is a testament in itself.
I’ve always loved languages, but after moving to Germany from South Africa, interacting with fellow immigrants made it undeniably clear that my initial experiences were far easier because I could already speak German. This really emphasised the pivotal role that language has in our lives, be it connection, cultural assimilation, or ordering a Currywurst.
Lingoda’s commitment to facilitating this type of cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, as well as making language learning (and thus opportunities) more accessible through digitalisation resonated deeply with me, motivating my decision to join the team.
I joined as a Business Development Representative, then spent some time as a Junior Business Analyst/Project Manager. I later worked as a Business Intelligence Manager for just under 2 years and I’ve recently been promoted to a Senior Application Support Manager.
My current projects are geared towards operational excellence – improving different software used by our teams and sometimes clients, maintaining the data integrity, overall user experience and setting the users up for success.
While the actual tasks are worlds apart, all the positions I’ve held at Lingoda have been closely related to our B2B sales, key account management, and operations teams.
As a Business Development Representative, I made calls to potential clients. Now, I am behind the scenes improving and maintaining the software used by those teams.
Our team of Lingodies! I’ve met wonderful people who have given me unique and valuable experiences, learnings, and even friendships. Being around a wonderfully diverse team of intelligent, motivated, kind, and inspiring people makes working at Lingoda a pleasure.
I also love having a hand in such an impactful and valuable product and hearing testimonials from our students. Knowing that you’re part of what could be the turning point of someone’s life is a special feeling.
Be honest and authentic! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, show your enthusiasm and passion – at the end of the day we are people before anything else.
