Lingoda is powered by talented teachers and exceptional learning plans. But what happens behind the scenes at Lingoda’s Berlin HQ? We caught up with Pierre, Senior Content Manager, to discuss all things edtech, talent and social.
I make sure that the right content appears at the right time and place on all platforms. This includes YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and the Lingoda blog. I work to find keywords, trends and hashtags. It’s all about seeking out what people want to consume and giving it to them in an interesting way.
I also look into growing markets and assist with the implementation of new landing pages for Lingoda’s products. No two days are ever the same!
I have my team which includes a content manager, social media manager, SEO manager, junior webmaster and a video producer. We work together to create the content you see on our channels. Aside from that, I also work cross-functionally with teams across Lingoda, including freelancers and contractors in order to help create the pages you see and use at www.lingoda.com.
I joined Lingoda last year after spending 10 years working in tech content. I chose Lingoda based on an intuitive desire to make a positive social impact. I speak French, Spanish and English fluently and I am currently learning German and Italian – you can probably tell languages are a big part of my life. I knew that by working at Lingoda I would be able to encourage other people to speak more languages. Whether this is via a Lingoda Live session, blog post, or Facebook ad, we are getting the word out that learning language really can be accessible. And for someone with my background in journalism, content and social media, it seemed like the perfect next step in my career.
We all know that one of the major benefits of speaking another language is that you can live and work abroad. Languages help you understand other cultures and allow you to explore how people from other countries think and act. Being able to speak at least one other language can also help people to land cool jobs like mine! Learning languages opens doors, it sounds cheesy but it’s true!
When you’re looking to start working in content, it’s important you can show some sort of portfolio of work. This can be a personal blog, a social media channel, a YouTube channel – something that shows your writing style and interests. You don’t need to already work at a startup or a media company to start creating your own content. There are so many free tools out there to help with creating posts, stories and blogs that it should be quite cost-effective.
Another tip would be try to take as many content related courses as you can. Again, these don’t have to be expensive. There are many free online courses out there in SEO, content creation, social media management and inbound marketing. Lots of people can write a good blog, the trick is to have it appear on the first page of google!
Want to work with Pierre? Lingoda is hiring! With jobs in product, business development, marketing and finance, you’re sure to find something that meets your skillset.
