There is no set time frame when it comes to improving a language. The length of time always depends on the student. Some of the factors that matter the most are whether you put enough effort and focus on the studies, as well as if you practice the newly acquired skills inside and outside of the class. Most of the students that progress through the language learning journey quicker are the ones that bring their learning outside of the classroom. Try reading a book in Spanish, follow a Spanish show in its original language, make friends with Spanish speakers and hold a conversation in their native language. These are some of the best practices which can help you improve quicker. However, Lingoda also offers intensive courses if you wish to learn the language in a shorter period.

At Lingoda, we proudly follow the CEFR guidelines and ensure to provide our students with the highest level of language learning quality. What is a Spanish B2 course?

A Spanish B2 course is an upper-intermediate level language program, which is often seen as the point at which a learner becomes functionally fluent. The B2 level of Spanish language acquisition is the fourth level on the internationally recognized Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), following A1, A2 and B1.

By the time you complete a B2 level Spanish course from Lingoda, you’ll be confident interacting with people and will even be able to have spontaneous interactions with Spanish speakers with no major problems.

Lingoda’s B2 Spanish course is designed for people who either have a B1 certificate, or who have an equivalent level of Spanish. If you’re unsure what your Spanish level is, our  free placement test can help you find out.

Is Spanish B2 difficult?

Generally, the difficulty of Spanish B2 level is not the biggest obstacle to overcome. In fact, for English speakers, Spanish is actually regarded as a relatively easy language to acquire. With the right level of commitment, you can progress from absolute beginner level to the B2 level in around 550 to 600 hours.

B2 level Spanish represents an upper-intermediate level of Spanish. You’ll need to possess a good knowledge of Spanish already and be on your way towards achieving fluency. Over the duration of a Spanish B2 course, you’ll acquire the necessary skills to take that extra step towards fluency and comfort when having Spanish interactions.

The Spanish B2 course offered by Lingoda provides everything you need to develop your language skills, including qualified and experienced native-level teachers, a supportive learning environment and opportunities to speak out loud.

Can I learn Spanish B2 by myself?

Independent learning can be extremely valuable and you should try to find opportunities to immerse yourself in the Spanish language as much as you can. However, to achieve the best results, you should also learn using a structured language course, with logical progression and a teacher who can correct mistakes and aid with pronunciation.

Here at Lingoda, we structure our course around the guidelines provided by the CEFR and this ensures students learn concepts in an order that makes sense. However, we actively encourage independent study too.

Some great ways to immerse yourself in the Spanish language include reading  Spanish children’s books, listening to Spanish musicians,  watching Spanish telenovelas, visiting Spanish news websites and listening to Spanish podcasts.

What do you learn in a Spanish B2 online course?

In Lingoda’s Spanish B2 course, you’ll be able to work on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Some of the specific topics you’ll cover in Lingoda’s B2 level Spanish course include:

  • How to talk about beliefs and points of view that differ from your own.
  • How to discuss the internet and its advantages, disadvantages and consequences.
  • How to speak about ethics, the planet and issues like discrimination.
  • How to explain the differences between humans and machines.

How long does a Spanish B2 course take?

If you’re starting from the Spanish B1 level and taking a B2 course, you can expect to spend somewhere in the region of 200 to 250 hours to earn your certificate. However, if you’re starting from a position of little or no knowledge of the Spanish language, the time to reach B2 level is likely to be around 550 to 600 hours in total.

Therefore, if you’re able to dedicate one hour of study time per day, you could move from B1 to B2 level in less than a year and you can move from absolute beginner level to B2 level in around two years.

It should be noted that many different factors can influence the amount of time it takes to earn your B2 Spanish certificate, including your overall attitude toward learning and the languages you already understand.

How much does a Spanish B2 course cost?

The exact price will depend on the type of classes you want and the amount of lessons you commit to. For more detailed information, check out our pricing page.

We also offer a 7-day free trial, allowing you to try out our classes before you commit to a purchase. You can cancel at any point during the trial period and you won’t be charged. During the trial, you can either sample three group classes, or a single private 1-to-1 class, depending on which model you’re more interested in.

How fluent is B2 Spanish?

Once you earn your Spanish B2 certificate, you’ll be at a level that most people would regard as fluent. More specifically, you’ll feel confident in everyday speech and able to understand the key ideas from complex text, even if it covers topics that are fairly abstract. You’ll also have the ability to interact spontaneously, without planning what to say in advance.

With that said, a B2 level Spanish speaker may still encounter issues and make mistakes. The CEFR includes two additional levels, which are C1 and C2, and these represent an advanced knowledge of the language.

Nevertheless, at the B2 stage, you should be able to hold conversations with native-level speakers and these interactions should be at the point where neither party is straining to understand the other.
